PS 242 G P BROWN COMPUTER SCHOOL

PUBLIC | K - 5 | AVERAGE | 199 |

I believe P.S. 242 G.P. Brown Computer School has excellent potential to be one of the better schools in New York City. The principal, Ms. Brewster demonstrates great leadership and enforces positive attitudes with all students. The teachers appear to be adequately qualified, however the students would benefit further if more creativity were added in the classroom setting. There is a strong sense of community that involves students, parents and teachers. Part of the mission for the school is to have everyone involved work together, which will lead your child to being successful in school. There is a need for improvement in specific areas as follows: specialized services for students with learning disabilities, after school program, extracurricular activities and smaller teacher to child ratio. This also eliminates to increased funding for the school.

Corpus Christi is a great school that I am glad that I found. The school has good teachers who care about the students. Teachers who my son hasn't even had for class yet know his name and talk to him to see how he is doing. The classrooms have smart-boards in them, helping to introduce the students to technology early. My son has been provided with challenging coursework and the support needed to help him grow academically, personally and spiritually. Overall a great school and I am happy to have my son enrolled.

This school is in need of being totally reconstruction. The school itself is a chaotic mess. The teachers are overwhelmed with out of controlled adolescent who do not have a clue of what discipline means let alone leadership qualities. This curriculum would be more informative if there were not constant interruptions (faculty & students). There is no music program in the school which I find it ironic due to the fact it is a military school. I would not recommend this school to anyone not at this time.I sent my daughter there with high expectation but the school's overall performance was mediocre.

I went to this school and in my case I found it pretty good. The teachers never stayed long but the things that were offered to us as students was great we had new laptops that one of our assisant teachers got for us.The only thing is that the classes are limited not everything is taught to you.

FLI is a wondful learning opportunity. My child is completing the 6th grade and second year. Though I will agree that there are behavoral issues, I don;t imagine there is a school without them. Without passing judgement on anyone's home life we would be better served to find creative ways to partner with the school and assist. Parents can come and sit in classes, observe Enrichment and other things. The pressence of addtional adults in the room would likely discourage at least some negative behaviors. . The monthly Breakfast w/the Head of school, Family dinner night, Math night and other activities are wonderful out of the box events for the entire family.

My son just graduated from KIPP: Infinity Charter School. He has been in the school since it first opened. The school only gets better and better as it grows. KIPP is exceptional and I could not think of any better place for my son. I cried so much at graduation. My son and I are going to miss everyone at KIPP very much. Everyone there was always so dedicated to each and every one of these kids. I strongly recommend this school. Kippsters are so lucky and so are we (the parents)!

I attend this school and even though they give a lot of homework, this school is amazing. This school is like my second family, because since the school is so small, everyone knows each other. You could wave at some random person in the school, and they would wave back and smile because they're just that friendly. We welcome everyone and we grow together. We might not have much money, but we don't need it to have fun and do what we need to do.

I too am a parent of two kids at Kipp Star. I love this school and so do my kids. They are challenged and still have fun. The teachers are great and so is the staff and administration. I do agree that the students get a lot of homework but the administration is looking into it and they are always willing to listen to parents. Great school!

I agree with the other parent! This school should get nothing short of 5 stars! I went there when I was a little girl, as well as my daughter and my son. We all love the school! The principal is wonderful, and the teachers are beautiful inside and out. They have the best kindergarten teacher ever..Mrs.R.Harris! Everyone there truly cares about the children and their families and are completely involved. From the principal to the ladies in the office, From the teachers to the assistants, from security to the janitor...they are all wonderful caring people, and you can tell because the children love them so much. The only parents who would possibly give a bad review are the ones who don't care to be involved in their children and dont take the positive advice from the leaders at the shool. No one is saying your child is bad, just get involved with your child so they have a chance at a bright future!

P.S. 154 is a school with many success stories. Students in this school are improving and they are improving because of what the school has to offer. The school has many different and innovative programs that allow the students to reach goals they thought were unreachable. This school is caring and so is the staff. I never met a principal who when she walks through the halls and encounters children, she knows them by name. This school is very special and I wish there were a lot more like it.

It was important for me to find a faith based school that would give my children a solid head start in the beginning of their academic careers. On the day of the school visit for my daughter walked out of the classroom with a big smile on her face. I looked in her hand and saw her artwork and said What a nice green clover! She said No mommy, this is a shamrock! I was impressed! I certainly thought shamrock was a big word for a two year old. She proved me wrong. I was happy that my children were accepted to the Mother Theodore Program, because they are learning in leaps and bounds. If a solid education and school community is important to you, St Aloysius School is one to consider.

CSS is an amazing school, dispite the opinions of many outsiders. The situations we go through only make us STRONGER, even though MANY people are trying to bring us down. We offer many many classes that not alot of other schools offer all at once. The students also have a say in what type of electives they want to take. There are many opportunities as well, for example, the chance to be in musicals. Its a great school to go to and nobody should be afraid to come visit us. www.columbiasecondary.org
